Hunting Tigers…

OK a bit more news.

Yesterday morning we visited the old fort area of Chennai, this was the starting point of the city and today houses a lot of the government buildings and law courts etc. There is also a warren of narrow streets which form a series of specialised markets, fruit, paper goods, vegetables, electronics etc. We spent a good hour or so just wandering through them without buying a thing though we did take a load of photos.

In the evening we were invited to the Chennai Hash House Harriers Easter Ball, a disco/dinner at the Park hotel in Chennai. I’m no disco enthusiast but we had a great evening with a load of Tim and Dennie’s friends, nice food, plenty of beer and best of all a driver to get us home through the mad traffic.

Today has been a pretty lazy day for the most part. Though at about 4pm we again set of for the Park hotel, this time for a real Hash. For those who don’t know (and I admit to being one until yesterday) a hash is a walk or run or jog around any area with the sole intention of working up a thirst for a few beers. Sounded right up my street so tonight we gave it a bash and joined 50 or so others for a romp around the streets of Chennai. It was very hot but great fun (the temp here is still about 35C ’til 9 o clock or so). I am uploading more pics as I type so these will show some of the travels and highlights of the last few days.

This time the pics are in a folder called India Photos 03 and the numbering is from IMG_0001.jpg through to IMG_0061. This will make sense if you read the previous posts. here.

Sue and I are off into the hills near Mysore (well about 2 hours by car from it). We leave tomorrow evening from Chennai on the overnight train to Mysore and then get a taxi to a hotel in a semi-jungle area. We are booked in there for Tues and Wed night and then return overnight Thursday.

We will be without email and web access for a few days I suspect but I should be able to get back on next weekend.

See you again soon…..
